A Face in the Cloud - Kahina Nougaoui, Business Development Consultant in Paris

As we prepare for the upcoming European Women in Technology 2017 conference in Amsterdam 8-9 November, we take a step back and spotlight some of the special women in technology that have been influential in Cloudreach’s success. In this edition of "Face in the Cloud," Business Development Consultant Kahina Nougaoui tells us about her experience working and keeping it cloudy at Cloudreach.
What is your role at Cloudreach?
I joined Cloudreach nearly 2 years ago as a Business Development Consultant.
I’m driving growth in France by targeting new logo large Enterprise accounts and building strong relationships with our partners. I’m the face and ambassador for Cloudreach France vis a vis our partners and strategic customers.
What motivated you to pursue a career in technology, and more particularly at Cloudreach?
I’ve been working in the IT industry for 8 years and I see how the market is always progressing — from traditional hosting to virtualization, from Private Cloud to Public Cloud. The Cloud is not a new iteration of IT but a real transformation, and helping my customers to succeed is really exciting. Cloudreach makes me feel that I’m working at the right place, at the right time.
What has been your favourite Cloudreach moment?
My Cloudreach favourite moment was the first big reference signature in France. The project was with this massive French industrial company, and it was really interesting and promising because they were at the beginning of their Cloud transformation with a lot of things to achieve. It was a real team effort that took a lot of investment and time but was ultimately a great satisfaction!
What are some challenges you have faced in your role and how have you overcome them?
One of the challenges as a sales professional is staying focused on developing the business relationship. It’s natural when in a business development role to think of sales on a transactional basis, especially when faced with quotas. To overcome this challenge, you must have patience and start small because enterprise level sales is about developing longer-term relationships that are based on trust and commitment, and delivering sustainable results for your clients.
Which cloudy value resonates most with you and why?
I would say: Be One step ahead.
In my position, you always need to anticipate customers’ needs and objections. Past experience and empathy often makes the difference.
How has working at Cloudreach impacted your personal and professional growth?
Working at Cloudreach continually has a positive impact on my personal and professional growth. Being part of the beginning business launch in an emerging market was an exciting challenge for me. I had to set up solid foundations for the next coming years by building a trusted relationship with our partners in France, and a concrete pipeline in large accounts. It is always a personal satisfaction to see things happening. Being part of such a fast growing company impacts me every day, where flexibility and adaptability are always required.
Where is one of the best places you’ve travelled to and why?
I went to Jordan last year, and I was really impressed by the diversity of the amazing landscapes: sea, mountains, desert and historical remains from severals civilisations. But what impressed me the most was the kindness and the hospitality of the Jordanian people. I found this to be a very humbling experience.
What does true leadership mean to you?
I believe that the best leaders are passionate about developing the emerging leaders around them, constantly work to improve their emotional intelligence, and know that a strong team culture is the foundation for accomplishing the greater mission.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
Always give the best that you can in the respect of others.
