Cloud Adoption Roadmap

The Challenge

The customer first engaged with Cloudreach to provide insight and guidance on successful cloud adoption and transformation. They recognized that undertaking a cloud transformation would require a fundamental change to their technology, process, and people.

The Solution

Cloudreach engaged with a number of key stakeholders, from the customer’s leadership team through to product and operational teams, to assess their existing organisation and operations. This assessment resulted in an actionable roadmap, with specific recommendations over a series of iterations, to help with transitioning their operating model to be cloud-ready so they can accelerate the time-to-value of cloud.

These iterations aligned to the development of their technical capability, organisational maturity and workload migrations to GCP. Alongside this transformation blueprint, we provided best practice recommendations tailored to their bespoke challenges and priorities, addressing their needs around cloud governance.

The Outcome

As part of this engagement, we produced for our customer a clear, actionable roadmap to ensure a successful cloud adoption, addressing their needs from the technology to the people and process transformation required.

We have continued to partner with the customer to support their cloud adoption journey, extending our engagement to implement specific security needs and support with building a data lake on GCP. This will enable our customer to leverage disparate data sources to run analytics that will improve their management of their supply chain and inventory.

Security Assessment

The Challenge

After helping the customer understand the organizational transformation required for successful cloud adoption, they asked for Cloudreach to assist in delivering vendor-agnostic and comprehensive security recommendations.

The Solution

The key activities of this engagement include:

  • A review of the current operational controls and mechanisms used within the cloud environment and by the organization as a whole.
  • A review of the current security controls used within the cloud and by the organization as a whole.
  • A review of the current governance controls used within the cloud environments and by the organization as a whole.
  • Identification of gaps within the cloud environment and deliver recommendations

Our security assessment utilizes a comprehensive methodology that ensures both business and technical requirements are addressed during the engagement. This includes considering the customer’s current cloud adoption maturity, their organizational alignment, security technologies, and process controls.

The methodology employed by Cloudreach included interviews with the customer’s infrastructure, data, security, DevOps, and networking teams. This was followed up with reviews of proposed architecture diagrams, and discussions around best practices. Cloudreach reviewed the current and desired future states with the team and presented the findings in a comprehensive and actionable report, with a phased implementation model to align to their implementation roadmap and ensure it met both their security aspirations and industry best practice.

Several security gaps were identified during the discovery and specific customer recommendations were presented to fill those gaps.

The Outcome

Our customer has the peace of mind that their cloud adoption will meet and exceed industry best practice from a security perspective, including addressing specific security gaps identified during the discovery phase. We have continued to support the customer with the implementation, ensuring the transfer of knowledge to key internal stakeholders, whilst also addressing the business

All recommendations were presented with the idea of cloud extensibility in mind. Namely, that their initial cloud deployments will not be the extent of their cloud environment, so that all future cloud deployments do not require re-evaluation.
